The spirit of travel
Discover the chimpanzees of the Kibale Reserve, which is home to one of the highest concentrations of primates in East Africa. During a guided walk, you will observe these close cousins of mankind living freely in their natural habitat, from the canopy to the undergrowth.
Then, head to the Bwindi forest for the highlight of your Ugandan adventure: an encounter with the last mountain gorillas, a unique moment filled with emotion. Accompanied by experienced trackers, you will follow in the footsteps of these gentle giants, in one of the last regions of the world where they still exist in the wild.
Throughout your journey, the splendid landscapes of volcanoes and mountains, wetlands and arid expanses, will delight you. You will cross typical villages, tea and coffee plantations, as well as lush hills stretching as far as the eye can see.
This diversity of scenery and wildlife encounters will make you want to return to explore the "Pearl of Africa" more deeply, as this country still holds so many treasures to discover.

Highlights
Day-by-day itinerary

Arrival in Entebbe, on the shores of Lake Victoria
Aéroport De Kampala-Entebbe → Entebbe
Upon your arrival in Entebbe, you discover from the air the Lake Victoria and the small islands dotting its waters.
Your driver welcomes you at the airport and accompanies you to your hotel.
The rest of the day is free, so you can settle in and enjoy this first stop in Ouganda.

Shoebill Observation in Mabamba Swamps
In the morning, you join the Mabamba Marshes. You set off by canoe through the marshes in search of the Shoebill Stork, accompanied by guides from the local community.
As you navigate, you will also be able to observe different bird species, including the Marsh Harrier, White-winged Black Tern, Yellow-billed Duck, herons and kingfishers.
Marais de Mabamba → Parc national de Kibale
You leave the Mabamba marshes for a day's drive through the countryside of western Ouganda, heading towards the Kibale national park.
The laterite track crosses many villages and allows you to observe scenes of daily life. Between Mubende and Fort Portal, the landscape evolves towards plateaus cut by valleys, before giving way to vast tea plantations.
As you approach Kibale, the terrain becomes more pronounced with the foothills of the Ruwenzori, whose snow-capped peaks can be seen in the distance.
You arrive at the edges of the Kibale forest and settle into the lodge.

Meeting the Chimpanzees of Kibale
In the morning, you set off for a walk in the Kibale Forest, which is home to more than 12 primate species. You head out in search of chimpanzees and may also observe other monkeys, including the red colobus and blue monkey.
In the afternoon, you continue your discovery of the region in the Bigodi Swamps, which are home to more than 300 bird species.

Route to Bwindi Forest
You leave the Kibale National Park to reach the Bwindi Forest.
Along the journey, the landscapes display different shades of green, between the eucalyptus trees that separate the plots, the cypress trees lining the paths and the rice paddies set in the valley bottoms.
You then reach the Bwindi Forest, where your encounter with the mountain gorillas awaits you.
Note: gorilla permits are purchased for one of the four sectors of Bwindi Park and not for a specific group of gorillas. On the morning of the trek, travelers go to the office of the sector in question, where the group to visit is assigned to them. Accommodation and travel times may therefore vary depending on permit availability.

Meeting with the Mountain Gorillas
Early in the morning, you join the Bwindi National Park to encounter mountain gorillas. Accompanied by trackers and your specialized guide, you venture deep into the forest in search of the group assigned to you.
The hike lasts between 3 and 7 hours, depending on the location of the gorillas. You then discover these primates in their forest environment. Groups can consist of 8 to 20 individuals, including the dominant male, recognizable by his silvery back, adult females and adolescents.
Parc national de Bwindi → Lac Bunyonyi
You leave the Bwindi forest heading towards the Lake Bunyonyi. You discover its landscapes of terraced cultivated hills and its 29 islands and islets, at nearly 2,000 meters altitude.
You enjoy a stroll around the lake, where nearly 200 bird species are recorded. You can also swim in the lake.
